Given this recent pandemic, I have been lucky to appreciate a slower lifestyle, really appreciating every aspect of life and the work that others do. The rainbow and warm light acts as a symbol of beauty and hope. I captured my sister sleeping peacefully, in a way to document this stillness that seems to be more present. In contrast to this, by capturing a bruise that my mum developed, I was able to avoid being naive, in the fact that there are still bad things happening in the world. By converting some images into black and white, I was able to exaggerate the tones that the light creates to make the viewer feel more connected, especially in a time of disconnection for many. Moreover, the series was an opportunity to capture emotion through light and those that I am close to. The series overall represents the warmth and appreciation of life that I feel at home.
