Founded in 2017, OPEN DOORS GALLERY is a global platform for contemporary photographic artists. The gallery aims to give the best emerging talent from around the world an opportunity to reach new audiences, collaborating with a diverse and dynamic range of artists.

In addition to representing the careers of several award-winning photographic artists, OPEN DOORS is committed to making art accessible, affordable, and attainable. We aim to surprise people by challenging what they believe photographic art to be whilst also respecting the more traditional photographic methods.

Our goal is to demonstrate to art lovers that photography is a compelling medium to explore and collect. As a relatively young art form compared to painting or sculpture, photography captivates us with its unique ability to embrace and integrate new technologies—an evolution that many other mediums struggle to match. While we hold deep respect for traditional practices such as darkroom printing and street photography, we are equally inspired by the cutting-edge innovations happening at the fringes of the medium. These artists boldly blur boundaries between disciplines, discovering new ways to create, challenge, and inspire.

Set up originally as a mixed media gallery, Open Doors looked to encourage community cohesion and a sense of local pride through a programme of open submission exhibitions. Popping up in venues across London, OD asked local artists to reflect the local area in their unique style. The success of these events led to the discovery of a huge pool of talented emerging artists that were dismally under represented. Particularly photographic.

Inspired by this observation and coming from a photographic background ourselves, OD decided to focus its efforts on highlighting and developing the best we could find. We want to lead and empower a growing group of first time art buyers with with highly collectable photographic prints and unique work, rich in stories and aesthetic quality.

Open Doors has developed a strong presence online (@odtakeovers) choosing to showcase a wide variety of styles from beyond our family of represented artists. Hoping to broaden people’s understanding of the medium as well as continuing our devotion to emerging photographic artists generally.

Whilst the digital side is important, we also believe wholeheartedly in the value of seeing and experiencing these artworks up close through our programme of exhibitions and art fairs that we host and participate in throughout the year. We can’t wait to welcome you to an event very soon.
