Today's Curiosity

“Mathematics is really important in my practice. I’m not a mathematician but I want to remember the action I made which was pleasant, then investigate that further. If I do a splash painting with a brush for example, I may find the result interesting, but I want to know why it was interesting. It’s less about creating something organically but more about wanting to control it. I suppose this is a human characteristic.”

The Today’s Curiosity series allows the artist a little more freedom to express himself than Single Image Processing for example. Often playful and kinetic, these at times more sculptural artworks can incorporate material from beyond the print itself. So perhaps a mechanism that allows a figure to leap from the scene or a magnet that would allow the subject to go fishing or even for two lovers gazing into each other’s eyes to finally kiss!
Kensuke Koike‘s unique artwork has been exhibited globally at museums & exhibitions around the world. Open Doors Gallery is the UK representative for Kensuke Koike’s art sales.
