Giorgia Bellotti
Giorgia Bellotti currently lives in Bologna, Italy, high up in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. Since childhood, drawing and painting were the disciplines that she preferred. It was only relatively recently that she discovered photography as an artistic medium. This gave her the impetus to start artistic research focused on herself and her inner universe. Giorgia uses the self-portrait to see herself, heal herself, seek herself, without ever revealing her face.
“The art of photography became part of me following significant experiences in my life for which I felt the need to isolate myself and focus on my emotions. I like to explore the submerged part of my consciousness through natural and impulsive gestures, involving the environment around me and making it a co-protagonist of the scene with me. I use the self-portrait to see myself, heal myself, look for myself, without ever revealing my face. A journey into the unconscious to return to where it all began, or ended. A therapy, the cure.” — Giorgia Bellotti
