Artist Statement | Blank Verse is a visual inquiry into our deep, often conflicted desire to understand. As creatures who investigate the world, each other, and the fragile terrain within ourselves, we keep searching, hoping that some piece will reveal the whole. The series of images asks what lies between perception and truth, between connection and solitude, blurriness and flashes of clarity, in a universe where everything is interconnected and no moment, no glance, no silence stands alone. This work moves through portraits, still lives and poetic imagery, to trace the subtle forces shaping our inner and outer lives, the role of empathy, the act of seeing and being seen by others and by ourselves. The photographs become fragments of a dialogue: between science and feeling, between the observer and the observed, between human longing and cosmic distance. Blank Verse does not aim to offer solutions or show how to resolve problems regarding the clarity of our sight, eliminating fears, or overcoming whatever has caused our perceptual limitations. Rather, it accompanies our ongoing existence, even in an unhealed state, even with blurred vision, by suggesting the value of acknowledging and observing the presence of fog, and working with it with kindness.
